SSSI & SIBA 2020 Victoria eSummit: Spatially Enabling SDGs
In light of the current COVID-19 situation, we are pleased to announce that SSSI and SIBA|GITA will be joining together to present the 2020 Victoria Spatial Showcase & eSummit.
This will be held as a special online event over two days in November.
This virtual event is recommended for everyone in digital engineering, surveying, geospatial, road, rail, marine, environment, utilities and related industries. Spatial professionals, surveyors, sydrographers, remote sensing and photogrammetrists and students, we hope you will join us!
The supporting theme for the event is Spatially Enabling Sustainable Development Goals.
What are UN SDGs?
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests
How are the UN SDGs relevant to the spatial profession?
All 17 SDGs have a spatial focus. The SDGs are important and relevant for government, the private sector, academic sector and the overall community to contribute and achieve the goals by 2030. The Victorian spatial community will draw on its collective experience to identify the opportunities and challenges in spatial enabling of SDGS.
The event will be held from 9.00am - 12.30pm over two days on 18 - 19 November 2020, using Zoom webinar software.
You don't need to sign up to a Zoom account or download Zoom onto your machine to join if you wish, you will just receive a link to your sessions when registering. You just need to click the link and off you go!
If you can't make the live event, register below and you will be sent the link to the recordings to watch at your leisure.
