Spotlight on our speaker: Joel Lindsay President of the UNAA Young Professionals Group

UNYP seeks to inform, inspire, and engage all Australians in the hopes of creating a fairer, safer, more sustainable world.

We seek to make Young Professionals aware of the important work being done by both the United Nations internationally and their representative associations in Australia. To achieve this I lead a team of dedicated volunteers in hosting topical events, networking, and social experiences that engage a wide sector of the community in the work and values of the United Nations.

Joel’s talk will focus on the opportunities to use climate mapping technologies for effective and inclusive engagement of all people in solutions to climate change through the emerging democracy of information and more positive messaging. He asks how can we make this information both accessible and engaging for people of his generation. A shift from gloom and doom messages of the impending disasters to positive leadership for change, understanding, and adaptation is now required.

We hope you can come along to this event and please feel free to share this event with anyone you think might like to join.

The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA|GITA) is a membership hub for businesses who use spatial information. We use spatial information to understand what is happening, and how doing things differently will improve outcomes. Spatial information is a broad term for referring to the skills, data and technologies used to create, analyse, manage, interpret and connect information about where things are. Spatial information is at the heart of big data, and is believed to make up about 80% of the world’s information.

SIBA|GITA members range in size from large multi-national corporations to small to medium enterprises (SME). Our members operate in most sectors of Australia’s economy including resources and energy, defence, transport, on - line services, property services, agriculture, emergency management, and insurance amongst many others.
