SIBA|GITA has a powerful history. In 2016, SIBA and Spatial Queensland recognised that together, they would be a stronger entity representing the interests and needs of the wider spatial community. They joined forces as a powerful statement to the industry that it is essential to have a collaborative and unified voice for the spatial community.
In 2017, the merger of the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) and the Geospatial Information Technology Association Australia and New Zealand (GITA ANZ) to form SIBA | GITA enabled a stronger platform for industry advocacy, and increased capacity to respond to industry needs for the benefit of both members and the spatial industry at large.
Now as one dynamic entity, SIBA | GITA can more effectively leverage scale and drive growth and innovation for this dynamic and critical cornerstone of Australasia’s knowledge economies.
Additionally, it means more consistent messages and consolidated efforts can be combined for greater impact, helping to increase awareness in the wider community of our members’ products and services; ultimately helping to facilitate growth opportunities.
Geospatial technology plays a critical role in all fundamental services supporting our community’s way of life, as increasingly more companies embrace location information as a strategic focus of their business.
