Fee Structure

The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) offers its members all the benefits that come from belonging to a proactive progressive organisation. These include a united voice on industry issues, representation to all levels of government, and significant networking opportunities not only among its members but also with other national and local bodies and, increasingly, with spatial industry organisations worldwide.

SIBA also provides members with a variety of tools, market intelligence (including government tender opportunities) reports, surveys, and seminars and a wide range of other direct business supports.

  • Providing direct business support
  • Creating a better business environment
  • Creating a future demand

Membership Details

SIBA offers two categories of membership; Full Membership and Associate Membership. Full Members have voting rights to elect Board members while Associate Members do not.

  • Full Membership is open to businesses that are in the spatial information industry and are not involved in the setting of government policy, are active in the commercial environment and do not receive recurrent Treasury funding in support of their activities.
  • Associate Membership is open to companies and organisations that are significant users and adopters of spatial technologies.

Membership fees are set annually by the Board of Directors, are generally based on business turnover, and may vary from Region to Region. Download the Membership Form for the relevant Region or complete your details online.

In Australia, SIBA is a national association (as opposed to a federated structure) its fees are calculated to include a regional component as well as the national fee. This means that fees do vary from region to region depending on the capacity of that region to provide services. In Queensland, SIBA has established a service contract that means that those who wish to join SIBA must first join the local body. Queensland has taken on the SIBA brand in full and so the membership arrangement is imperseptible. In NSW there is a new Regional Management Group being formed and details will be made available shortly so companies interested in membership within NSW should contact dhocking@spatialbusiness.org for assistance.

In all other states of Australia that have a Regional Management Group, a local fee compnent may be charged. The local fee is necessary to ensure strong local support for regional issues, networking and other important business service functions. Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia all have RMGs that provide services through a part-time Executive Officer.

New Zealand has established its own financial arrangements and fees are determined by the New Zealand Management Committee.

Select from the list in the side bar for a state in which your company head office is located. There are different Membership Forms available for the state or country in which you join. Fees are generally calculated on your company's 'Australian spatial business activity turnover'. In the case of New Zealand, your total spatial turnover.
